While Obama campaigned on the "Change you can believe in" and "Hope", and all the rhetoric about transparency, no earmarks, no pork, accountability and many other promises, in my eyes the proof is in the results -not lip service. So far we have gotten from the Obama administration more of the same, only more extreme on the spending end. Defenders of Mr. Obama say that he inherited this mess and it is going to take time to fix it, but his intentions are to tax our way out of this mess, and take from those that have worked hard to get where they are in this life. When he says he isn't going to raise taxes on people that make under $250,000, he is referring to income tax. But everything else in our world is going to be taxed at rates we have never seen in the history of this country. Food, gasoline, utilities, clothing just to name a few. Once Mr. Obama has taxed the wealthy to death and they are no longer wealthy, where do you think he is going to go to find more money to support his programs? Yup - those of us that make under $250,000 a year.
The mortgage crisis started under the Clinton administration when laws were passed forcing companies like Fannie and Freddie to lend money to unqualified buyers, all under the guise that everyone in this country deserved to own a home. This sense of entitlement is ruining our country! I am livid that I may be forced to subsidize the mortgages of those that haven't exercised fiscal responsibility but instead have gone out and purchased the nicest cars, bigger homes than they could afford, clothes, jewelry, etc., etc., and now find themselves in a position where they can't meet their financial obligations. Is this my problem? Is it yours? NO!! Are you sick and tired yet? Should you be forced to pay more so that others can get bailed out of the messes that they created? I am all for helping out those that need a hand - a TEMPORARY hand - due to events outside of their control. But to reward those that have lived irresponsibility is absolutely wrong. Mr. Obama seems inclined to bail out companies that have squandered away BILLIONS of dollars, (with the string attached that they are now partly owned by the US Government and will now be able to dictate salaries of all employees), while those of us that are doing our best to live within our means are being penalized for living responsibly.
How does one handle their anger over issues like this, (which in my opinion are just the beginning)? Get involved - political activism is what founded this country. Have you heard about the protests taking place on April 15th all across this country, in the form of Tea Parties? Apathy is what got us here folks. Too many of us have sat around trusting the government to do the right thing - and we have been too consumed with our own personal lives and obligations to learn more about the state of our country. We only have ourselves to blame if we allow our huge monstrosity of a government get even bigger, which every indication shows it will. We must act now! Sign up for a Tea Party in your area. If there isn't one being organized - the tools are here for you to get one going. http://www.teapartyday.com/Locations.aspx This isn't a Democrat or Republican issue - it is an American Issue.

Cap and Trade - MORE Taxation
Have you kept up with the latest scheme that our "representatives" in Washington have devised? In an effort to reduce greenhouse gases, our government has decided that they will increase taxes on companies that produce energy as a way to fund a more "green" environment. Now the question of "Green" is a good one - are we talking green as in the lingo used by environmentalists to become more environmentally friendly, reduce gases, reduce pollution, etc.? Or are we talking green in the sense that the government collects more of the taxpayers money? Who will these companies pass the additional cost to once they begin to be taxed at a higher rate? WE - THE PEOPLE! An impartial analysis from MIT makes clear the price will be substantial: more than $300 billion in new taxes every year. This converts into an additional $3100 per year in taxes paid by you and me - the taxpayers. This is the equivalent of punishing the American taxpayer for big industry and their failure to find more environmentally friendly ways to produce energy.
We are already being taxed to death and every American should be tired of our "representatives" selling us out in Washington. I am one of many in this country that are tired of sitting here and taking it in the pocketbook. If you are getting tired and feeling like you aren't being represented anymore, that you are over taxed as it is and you feel like your hands are tied, NOW is the time to take action. April 15th - there are Tea Parties taking place across this country. Click here to find one near you: http://www.teapartyday.com/Locations.aspx Get involved.
